Å koda Kodiaq - 7 Seater Vehicles
The Å koda Kodiaq is a three-row SUV manufactured by the Czech automaker Å koda Auto. The vehicle is based on VW Group's modular MQB platform, shared with a new generation of Volkswagen Tiguan and the SEAT Ateca, however the Kodiaq is longer than Tiguan and comes in a seven-seat version. The estimated selling price on the European market will start from 24,520 euros. The Kodiaq will have the ambition to compete with premium rivals such as the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, so a richer standard equipment than usual for Å koda is expected. It will, for example, include a head-up display and a digital instrument panel.
Overview
Earlier it was assumed that the new SUV would be called "Snowman" or "Polar", but this has been rejected by the former head of Å koda (Vahland) as a media speculation. On 23 December 2015, Å koda registered the name "Kodiaq", the name refers to the largest brown bear, the Kodiak bear.
In February 2016, images of the Vision S concept were released, and the concept model appeared in March 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show. The final SUV was introduced at the Paris Motor Show on 29 September 2016. The first cars have been delivered to customers in February 2017.
The Kodiaq is the first vehicle in the Å koda lineup to have Area View, Tow Assist, Manoeuvre Assist and Predictive Pedestrian Protection. It is also the first vehicle in the VAG MQB platform lineup to feature capacitive shortcut buttons instead of the physical buttons for the 8" infotainment systems.
In November 2016, Å koda Kodiaq was named the Best Family Car in the World by TopGear Magazine.
In January 2017 Å koda announced the Kodiaq Scout. It will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. The ground clearance has gone up from 187mm to 194mm, and there have some design changes. These changes include front and rear underbody protection with bumper trim, silver mirror caps, and badging on the front wing and the glove compartment. The model comes standard in AWD with 2 turbopetrol TSI engines and 2 turbodiesel TDI engines. Standard features are: multifunction steering wheel, LED ambient lighting in ten colours, a touchscreen infotainment system with eight speakers, Alcantara-covered seats with the Kodiaq logo, door trims in the Alcantara design, steel pedals, textile floor mats and the Kodiaq logo in the front door sills.
